30 Day Blogging Challenge!

Okay so I saw this challenge and I wasn't sure if I could do it or not -

A) I always have so much fun reading other blogs that I forget to post on my own
and
B) Normal people started it on the 1st of June.

But then I thought hey, it has no specific rules other than you do it over a period of 30 days, whatever that period may be, and it seemed like a lot of fun so I said I'd try it!

june

I will try make this more beauty related as it is a beauty blog but obviously not all of these posts can be beauty related.

So, on with Day 1 - Your Blog's name.

My blog's name is beccabearbeauty - beccabear being an embarrassing nickname from my childhood and beauty as this is a mainly beauty related blog. Very short post to start the challenge!

Let me know if you decide to try this challenge and I'll follow you on bloglovin to see your answers!

Beauty Blogger Q and A :)

Some Questions & Answers

I thought this would be a fun post to do so I can share with you guys some beauty facts about me :)

  • What’s your favourite eye shadow colour to wear?
I always try to stick with neutral colours. I'm very boring in the eyeshadow department! The one eyeshadow pallette I can't live without is the original Naked Pallette.

  • What’s the one product you wouldn’t leave your house without?
Lip balm - I love the body shop ones or the old reliables like vaseline or carmex.

  • What’s your favourite makeup look?
I love a bronzed look with a glossy, light pink lip.

  • Which feature do you play up the most?
For most people this would be the eyebrows but i really dislike my eyebrows - I'm trying to let mine grow out to get them reshaped. I spend a lot of time on my eyes so probably those.

  • Which feature do you try to downplay/cover up
I have quite blemish-prone skin at the moment so I definitely try to cover up that.

  • Your favourite makeup brand, if you could pick only ONE to exist?
A lot of people would go with MAC but i find MAC slightly overrated - don't get me wrong a lt of their products are great but I'd probably go with NARS.

  • Which product have you re-purchased OVER and OVER again?
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.

  • Which product would you NEVER repurchase again and why?
My MAC foundation - caused breakouts and wears off really easily.

  • One beauty treatment you would always PAY to have done?
Waxing

  • One beauty treatment you would NEVER pay to have done?
i don't know..probably toenails because I hate my feet so much I'd be too paranoid to let someone else touch them.

  • One beauty trick you can share with everyone?
Sudocream - My skin saviour. Put on spots at night and they almost disappear by morning.

  • Best advice you've ever been given regarding beauty and makeup?
Just because you've blemishes doesn't mean you should use skin products for oily acne prone skin - your skin could be combination and doing this will dehydrate it and make it worse.

I want anyone reading this to do this Q and A. Comment down below if you do and I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for reading :)

Things That Make Me Happy! :)

Now, feel free to hate me or give out to me in the comments,as I'm aware this is a beauty blog, but I think a blog is a personal thing and a person should be able to post what they are feeling at that time. Right now, I'm feeling pretty down and so i thought I'd cheer myself and anybody else who needs it up with a post about things that make me happy. Comment if you like posts like this or think it's silly to post on a beauty blog. :)

1. Tea

I know I know, I'm a typical Irish girl by saying this but whenever I'm sad I grab myself a cup of tea in my favourite mug and a book and curl up in bed. I get sucked in to the book and before I know it I'm feeling better. I think tea is magic and gives you instant happiness!

2. Movies

Just like the books, I get so into the movie that I forget whatever was bothering me or on my mind. I like to watch a lighthearted Disney film (I've watched Frozen more than I can count!) or a romantic movie (recently I loved Safe Haven) The last movie I watched was 'It's Kind Of a Funny Story' based on a book by Ned Vizzini. It's about a teenage boy suffering from depression yet still manages to be funny and inspiring. I highly recommend it if you like John Green books!

3. Pamper Evening

I don't know any girl who doesn't feel even a teensy bit better after a good pamper session.Treat yourself to a face mask, hair mask, bath bombs, go the whole hog! This is almost guaranteed to make you happier in your body. I highly recommend doing this after a particularly stressful day at work or a tough exam to make you relax and de-stress.

4. Onesies!

I for one find it IMPOSSIBLE to be unhappy in a onesie. It's so comfy your stress just vanishes! I love to curl up in a onesie in bed with my laptop and watch youtubers like Zoella or Tanya Burr for the evening. Their happiness makes me happy!

5. HONY

I'm sure by now you've all heard of HONY or 'Humans Of New York' - The blog (and now book!) that interviews random people on the streets of New York. The blog was created in 2010 by a man named Brandon and I'm not sure what it is about it that makes me immediately happy. I could read this fascinating blog for hours without getting bored. My dream is to live in New York one day so who knows, maybe I'll be on this blog sometime!

6. My Favourite Music

I don't think there is one person on the planet that can truthfully say they don't like music - there really is something for everyone! I love to listen to Kodaline when I'm sad, Arctic Monkeys when I need confidence, or Ed Sheeran - anytime! My current song I have on repeat is 'All Of The Stars' by Ed Sheeran for the Fault In Our Stars movie coming out in July. It's such an amazing song and it's making me even more excited for the movie!

So I hope you didn't mind this post was a bit different from my normal route and if you did feel free to tell me in the comments - just don't be nasty!Otherwise, tell me what makes you happy or if you love anything in this post too. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about me than you would in a typical beauty post. Thanks for reading!x

January Favourites!

Guys I'm so sorry it's been so long since I posted, I've been away for the past few days and only now realised this post that was meant to post on Valentines day never posted. Bad Wifi is the worst :(

Happy Valentine's day everybody! If you have no one to get in the romantic spirit with, don't you worry, grab a big cup of tea and spend the evening catching up on some beauty blog posts!

I'm being a bit naughty posting my January favourites half way through February, but I thought since I only made this blog a few days ago that it was allowed? Hopefully it won't happen again 🙊

Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24H

I got this gel eyeliner because the Rimmel one was discontinued (or so I believe, I couldn't find it anywhere) and was looking for an alternative. I tried this and instantly fell in love! The formula is different to any I've tried - it looks a bit like a liquid eyeliner when it's on. It's very easy to use and even comes with a handy little brush. I don't use the brush personally but it's great for someone who is only trying out gel eyeliner and doesn't want to go out and buy a brush too.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in 'Faint' - Naked Basics Pallette

I absolutely love this brown shade for my eyebrows - I've been using it pretty much every day, pencils have been forgotten about!

(Faint is second from the right)

Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses in 700 'Nothing but Nude'

I got this lip tint as a gift and was very excited to try it as I hadn't tried any of this range before. The packaging was interesting, a stick with the marker-like crayon on one side and a clear balm to add 'moisture and shine' on the other. I love this colour as it's not too bright for everyday wear yet still adds a pop of colour to my face. I would definitely recommend it!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal

I'm now on my second pencil of this and I love it. I use this on it's own or on my waterline with gel eyeliner on top. Great for that smudged effect and lasts ages!

Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish Nail Varnish in 'Black Cherry'

I wore this dark colour so much throughout winter, in fact in January I rarely had it off my nails! Not the best consistency but it doesn't chip too easily which is all I ask for!

Sudocream

I've already done a whole blog post on this so I'm not going to write too much but this has been my skin saviour throughout January!

Halle Berry Perfume

I recieved this perfume as a gift and I absolutely love it. I'm not someone for very sweet or strong scents so this is perfect for me. Good thing I have such a huge bottle!

So that's my belated January Favourites, I hope you all liked it! Comment down below if you've liked any of these throughout January or anything else that was a favourite in January!

Benefit 'World Famous Neutrals' Review

I recently tried the Benefit 'World Famous Neutrals - Easiest Nudes Ever' eyeshadow kit, which I recieved for free while I was doing work experience in a drugstore/high street store. I got the tester that does be on the shelf to try and although it was a little well loved, it was free and so I wasn't complaining!

I had a few testers to choose from, but what swayed me towards this is how easy to wear they all looked - they seemed like the perfect everyday colours. The set contained 4 powder shadows and 2 cream shadows - one of which had sadly been used up (r.s.v.p.). It looked so pretty too :(

The colours were beautiful - the cream eyeshadows were bases which were lovely but I noticed 'No Pressure!' was very similar to the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'On and On Bronze/Bad to the Bronze.' For the crease they had 'Thanks a Latte' a bronze shade which I ADORE and 'Quick, Look busy, a dark brown colour. The set also contains 'Call My Buff' and 'Pinky Swear' for highlighting.

Some swatches(left-right) - Quick, Look Busy, Thanks a Latte and No pressure!

No pressure! (left) compared to Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze (right) - I can hardly notice a difference!

Overall, I thought this set was great. It even included 2 step-by-step tutorials and a handy mirror! (Yes that's my badly chipped nail varnish in the mirror!)

Thank you all for reading, please comment what you think of this set if you've tried it or what your favourite benefit set is.

My budget skincare saviour! 🙌

I love reading blog posts about skincare products because I love trying new things, but more often than not the best skincare products are very very expensive and for someone without a job, it's just not possible to try them.

That's why today, I decided to share with you guys my favourite skincare product that I bought for only FOUR EURO -sudocream!

Now, I'm sure when you hear sudocream you immediately think of baby's bottoms and that's what I thought too, until a friend recommended it to me when I had a particularly bad skin day.

I had 2 huge spots and a lot of redness, so I decided to put this on overnight and see if it made a difference. When I woke up, the spots had reduced noticeably in size and the redness had cleared up a lot also. I've been using this a lot lately as I've had a lot of breakouts and it really has made a difference!

The only downside to sudocream is when you're wearing it overnight, it can be messy and if you toss and turn a lot like me, you might wake up with it all over your pillow. Other than that, it's a great, cheap spot treatment that most people seem to have at home already!

Have you ever tried it? Let me know :)
